Sri Lanka Railways has scheduled several trains to facilitate devotees for the Esala perahera of the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
The Railway Department issuing a statement said additional trains will function from today (7) and will run to and from Kandy to Colombo, Matale, and Nawalapitiya.
The train journeys have been increased to facilitate the devotees heading to Kandy to witness the annual Esala Perahera Festival.
Accordingly, the first train will leave from Colombo Fort at 9.50am and will reach Kandy around 1.10pm.
The special trains will function until the 12th of August.
