The JVP says civil societies are not ready to accept the present political culture in Sri Lanka.
JVP member K.D Lalkantha said solutions to the economic crisis cannot be found in simply changing those in power, due to the culture being constant.
Speaking at a rally in Kandy yesterday, Lalkantha said people are not willing to accept the present government as their legitimate leaders.
He noted that people are not ready to accept public representatives, due to the political and social instability Sri Lanka is going though.
Lalkantha recalled the government during the time of former President Chandrika Bandaranayke, when political instability was rampant but society was relatively stable.
Therefore he concluded that social instability cannot be solved by resolving political issues within parliament.
Lalkantha further explained that the people’s struggle has evolved at present, making it harder for those in power to implement the decisions they take.
He noted that politicians will not be considered at a time when society’s struggle has passed the point of mere political party issues.
