The National Transport Commission says fuel will only be provided for private buses in operation today.
Speaking to media, Director General of the National Transport Commission Nilan Miranda said the Fuel Station in Bastian Road will disburse fuel to Inter Provincial buses within the day.
However he explained that fuel will only be given to buses that are used in operations today.
Nilan Miranda called on all bus drivers to join in transporting commuters, adding that Police protection will be provided to such buses.
He commented that a letter has been directed to the Inspector General of Police on the matter as well.
Nilan Miranda noted that commuters need the service of bus owners today.
