The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association held a round of discussions with the Minister of Energy yesterday, who informed that the distribution of diesel for private buses will be met through depots of the Sri Lanka Transport Board.
President of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne speaking to NewsRadio said the implementation of the programme is now in doubt following the sudden Cabinet reshuffle yesterday.
Wijeratne said in the event diesel is not supplied by noon, bus operations will come to a standstill.
He added State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama contacted him over the phone at night and assured that steps will be taken to meet the demand.
He claimed that buses were in queues overnight while a majority were unable to top up tanks.
Meanwhile, the Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board Panduka Swarnahansa said the SLTB will provide diesel for private buses when SLTB depots receive stocks.
