Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna backbenchers are prepared to hold discussions with Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa.
The discussion will reportedly get underway in Parliament today.
Meanwhile, speaking to NewsRadio SLPP Parliamentarian Major Pradeep Undugoda said Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa intervened to resolve the prevailing economic crisis in the country.
MP Undugoda said the general public is severely burdened adding the main reason for the present situation is the actions of former administrations and financial mismanagement.
He added the Finance Minister is not the reason for the prevailing crisis.
MP Undugoda claimed the previous administration obtained massive foreign loans at high interest rates, which the incumbent government needs to repay.
The MP added the foreign reserve crisis emerged as a result of having to settle the foreign loans, claiming however the Finance Minister did not assume duties at a time the country was in possession of a large amount of foreign reserves.
