Former President and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Maithripala Sirisena says SLFP members accepting Ministerial posts is contrary to the decisions reached by the Central Committee.

Issuing a statement, the former President said the SLFP Central Committee has not granted consent to accepting Ministerial posts.

The statement said the Central Committee decided to support the government without accepting posts and to continue to serve the public while remaining within the opposition.

Former President Sirisena said the SLFP proposed a programme for the function of an all-party government under a new Prime Minister and detailed its operations.

The statement added under such circumstances the government awarding SLFP members Ministerial posts without informing party leaders that represent Parliament of the formation of a traditional government once again is unacceptable.
