The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee has decided to request President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to hold talks with all political parties and form a caretaker government if the people’s issues cannot be addressed.
However, if the government rejects their request, the party said it’s Central Committee will reconvene and make a final decision on resigning from the government.
The SLFP said a letter detailing the Party’s requests will be presented to the President.
The Party says public will express their displeasure over activities of the present government, if they fail to resolve the people’s issues.
The SLFP Central Committee convened yesterday, under the patronage of Chairman and Former President Maithripala Sirisena at the party headquarters yesterday.
Lengthy discussions were held at yesterday’s meeting regarding resolving prevalent public issues.
Speaking to media after the meeting SLFP Senior Vice President Rohana Luxman Piyadasa said the Former President will make a final decision on the contents of the letter to be given to the President.
State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said they will be forced to leave their Ministerial portfolios if the government does not co-operate.
