A resolution has been passed unanimously during the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Anuradhapura District committee meeting calling the SLFP to contest independently during upcoming elections.
The SLFP Anuradhapura District committee meeting was held under the patronage of State Minister Duminda Dissanayake today.
During the meeting, Secretary of the SLFP Youth Front Saman Kumara said his faction decided to support the present administration believing in the assurances made by then Presidential candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
He charged the government of disregarding pledges made before the election.
Saman Kumara has stated that the SLFP must contest on its own during the next election, regardless of the result.
Thereafter, the committee unanimously had approved the motion.
Addressing the gathering State Minister Dissanayake had said steps will be taken to inform all electoral organizers if it is necessary to contest separately
