Deputy Speaker of House Ranjith Siyambalapitiya claims the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is once again prepared to spearhead a broad alliance.
Speaking to media in Kandy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the SLFP has always been the main party in alliances consisting of leftists and progressives. He said they will not hesitate to support progressive leaders.
Deputy Speaker Siyambalapitiya said the SLFP played a key role in appointing Gotabaya Rajapaksa as President.
He said although the SLFP has always been the main party of political alliances, it has become the second most important party in the current coalition that governs the country.
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya therefore said, certain issues have arisen at present.
On a separate note, the Deputy Speaker of House said printing money is necessary in certain situations.
He said it is one economic principle and therefore claimed it cannot be blindly criticized.
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said at a time when there is a lull in business activities, money printing will help generate interest amongst businesses as well as amongst the public.
He however said the practice of continuously printing money will lead to a spike in inflation.
Siyambalapitiya said they will not hesitate to criticize the actions of the government which will be based on policies unlike the current opposition that has a habit of opposing every move of the present administration.
