The Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Rohana Luxman Piyadasa says an interim All Party government must be established immediately.
He said the SLFP reached a decision at yesterday’s Central Committee meeting that the party should withdraw from the present administration.
He said a decision was also reached after discussions with the party administration to cease relationships with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and to contest independently of the SLPP at upcoming elections.
Rohana Luxman said during discussions it was unanimously agreed that the current administration was rapidly deteriorating and it was necessary to highlight that the SLFP does not have ties to the present regime.
He added the Chairman of the SLFP will announce the party decision to the President in the near future.
Rohana Luxman Piyadasa said following the All Party Conference, it was decided that an interim government should be formed involving all political parties.
He said under this interim government, the country should hold a General Election to allow the public to exercise their right to vote.
