The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has condemned the President’s decision to remove Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila from office.

Speaking to media in Kandy, Senior Vice President of the SLFP Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa his party is prepared to continue to lead the people’s struggle.

Luxman Piyadasa said the decision was taken after 11 constituent parties of the government held an event to reveal the programme needed to address the crises faced by the public.

He said it is disappointing and disheartening that such an event led to the removal of two Cabinet Ministers.

Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa noted that matters spoken at the event should’ve been considered to correct the mistakes of the government, instead of reacting irrationally.

He said the SLFP condemns the move and is prepared to provide leadership to the group of 11 parties that has been representing the government and commence a new journey.

Prof. Rohana Luxman Piyadasa added that they will also educate the public regarding the issues faced by the country and ways to resolve them.

Meanwhile, The JVP points out that Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila who contributed to passing the 20th Amendment to the Constitution had to experience it’s the consequences.

Former Member of the party Politbureau KD Lal Kanthe expressed these views while participating in a program held in Kandy.
