The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment warns the public to beware of scammers, who falsely advertise opportunities for foreign employment due to increased demand.
Issuing a statement the Bureau said cases have been reported island wide where scammers make false advertisements on social media and obtain money by claiming to offer job opportunities to Romania, Israel, Japan and South Korea.
The Bureau website contains details of all employment opportunities published by registered and licensed foreign employment agencies in Sri Lanka.
The Bureau informs foreign employment hopefuls to research the legal authenticity of employment agencies before handing over passport information or cash sums blindly.
Individuals can dial the 1989 hotline open 24 hours, and obtain details of foreign employment opportunities.
