The Samagi Jana Balawegaya claims the party has not received an official invitation for the all party conference scheduled to be held on Wednesday (23), yet.

Speaking to NewsRadio Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake stated although there have been many media reports regarding an all party conference, the SJB is yet to receive an official invite.

The MP added the decision on whether the party will take part, if invited, will be reached after a discussion amongst members of the SJB Parliamentary Group, that is due to convene on Monday.

MP Attanayake questioned the genuineness behind organising the conference stating most often such conferences are organised at crucial times as a mere media spectacle, instead of creating useful dialogue to address the nation’s issues.

The Parliamentarian also charged that the government does not take heed of concerns raised by the opposition and other political parties.

MP Attanayake noted the same applies during Parliament sessions, adding that the government fails to take notice of issues raised by the opposition and questioned if an all party conference would be any different.
