Parliamentarian SM Marikkar claims the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will not surrender to mafia within the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Office of the Opposition Leader today, Parliamentarian said India’s Adani Group will enter Sri Lanka and sell Sri Lankan resources back to the country.
MP Marikkar said the opposition will never agree to a scheme to increase tariffs to meet the need for salary increases of employees, or to sell local assets to foreign entities.
He said the party supports tenders not being called on 10MW projects, adding that tenders above 10MW must be awarded based on a competitive bidding system, combined Parliaments approval.
MP Marikkar said such a dual system will decrease the chances of fraud in the tender process.
He noted a country’s resources belong to its people.
Also joining the media briefing, MP Mayantha Dissanayake commenting on the resignation of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa said, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has an ulterior motive behind the resignation.
The Parliamentarian said Basil Rajapaksa entered politics to acquit himself of certain legal cases, and further the political interests of his family, and not on behalf of the country.
