Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne says the party is ready to form an interim government if the Executive Presidency is abolished.

Speaking in Parliament today, MP Wickramaratne said the SJB will support a resolution banning more than two members of the same family from holding Cabinet portfolios.

The Parliamentarian said they do not oppose an interim government and are prepared for discussions, noting however there are trust issues.

He said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa applauded the statement made by the Leader of the Opposition on abolishing the Executive Presidency and called on the Premier to table a proposal to abolish the Executive Presidency.

MP Wickramaratne said they are willing to undertake the responsibility to rebuild the economy if the government agrees to abolishing the Executive Presidency.
