The Samagi Jana Balawegaya rally was organized at Independence Square.
It was worked off under the theme ‘නිදහසේ අරගලය’ under the patronage of Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.
Speaking at the rally Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said they will not fall for the traps set up by the government.
He recalled that the government was trying to garner the Oppositions support in the form of corrupt arrangements such as offering high posts.
MP Premadasa said the government is only focused on retaining power at a time when people are suffering due to shortages of food and medicine.
Responding to threats directed at the Opposition Leader over declining the invitation to form an all party government, the MP said he will hand over his post if the people request it.
MP Premadasa claimed that they will only form a government if it is free of corruption and if they have the peoples blessing.
Speaking at the rally Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara said people must look at history and fight for their rights, like our ancestors did.
Also speaking at the rally MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena said Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and the SJB will work for the betterment of the public.
