The Samagi Jana Balawegaya states a new Deputy Speaker will be appointed when Parliament convenes on the 17th.

Addressing media following the party leaders meeting Parliamentarian Mano Ganesan said the Speaker introduced a new concept of holding a party leaders meeting and invited individuals who were not party leaders.

The MP said the SJB is of the view that an agenda for Parliamentary proceedings cannot be discussed in the presence of such individuals.

MP Ganesan said when Parliament convenes; priority should be given to the appointment of a new Deputy Speaker.

He expressed his regret at the wastage of public funds owing to actions during the previous sitting in relation to the re-appointment of MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya as Deputy Speaker after which he resigned from the post for the second time.

The MP further stated a No-Confidence Motion against the President has been handed by the SJB.

MP Mano Ganesan said the Speaker expressed his displeasure over the proposal at the party leaders meeting due to the absence of Leader of the House MP Dinesh Gunawardene at the meeting.

Parliamentarian Ganesan said the SJB was not responsible for the absence of ruling party Parliamentarians and added the Motion against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be tabled in Parliament.

Responding to a question posed by a journalist regarding rumours related to Former Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe being appointed as Prime Minister, MP Mano Ganesan said the SJB wished him luck but would not take part in the formation of a government under such circumstances.
