The Samagi Jana Balawegaya claims the draft 21st Amendment to the Constitution should not be a nominal show.
Speaking to NewsRadio Parliamentarian Thushara Indunil Amarasena said amendments that will be favorable for the future of the country, including curtailing the powers of the President, should be included in the amendment.
Parliamentarian Amarasena charged the government of attempting to hoodwink the public by proposing a nominal 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
He added the reason behind the current issues was the excessive powers granted with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa through the 20th Amendment that led him to make irresponsible decisions.
The MP said the SJB is willing to support a Constitutional Amendment that grants the powers of the Executive President to the Parliament and called for the five proposals put forth by the party to be included.
