The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the absence of a Minister of Finance is another “record’ set by the present administration.
Speaking in Parliament, Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy said after Basil Rajapaksa resigned as the Finance Minister, Ali Sabry was appointed as the Minister of Finance.
He said the Minister Sabry did not last in the post 24-hours, before handing over his resignation.
The MP stated while there were rumours that Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardana was set to take up the job, when questioned by members of the SJB, he said he did not want the position.
MP Appuhamy said no individual wants to take up Ministerial portfolios.
Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy questioned as to how a country without a Minister of Finance, Secretary to the Treasury or a Governor of the Central Bank can meet the public’s need for fuel, electricity, and milk powder, and bring down prices of essentials or solve the foreign exchange crisis.
