Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake says a No-Confidence Motion will be tabled against Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage if he continues to fail to address the fertiliser issue.
Speaking to media in Kandy today MP Attanayake said as the main opposition party, the SJBs failure to stand in support of farmers is a grave injustice.
He said the main issue the country is facing today is the fertiliser issue, adding that it has affected not only paddy cultivation but all other farming-related activities.
Attanayake claimed farmers are not engaged in an anti-government protest but are merely demanding they be provided sufficient fertiliser for cultivation.
He called on the government to address this matter, adding that too much time has been taken in addressing farmers grievances.
MP Attanayake added the SJB Parliamentary Group will convene to determine future action pertaining to a No-Confidence Motion against the Minister.
He said the party is seeking to send a message to the government by tabling a motion.
The Parliamentarian said while the government will boast of its two-thirds majority, the main issue they are attempting to highlight is that the public has lost faith in the government and the subject Minister.
