Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy says the party has no intention of safeguarding MP Rishad Bathiudeen.

Speaking at a media briefing today, the MP said MP Bathiudeen is attached as namesake to the SJB but has acted in favour of the government.

He said MP Bathiudeen is the leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress while him and his party members merely joined the alliance.

He claimed that even though they sat with the SJB they voted in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution and paved the way for Basil Rajapaksa to enter Parliament, and be appointed as the Minister of Finance.

MP Appuhamy added, the three ACMC MPs are only namesake members of the SJB, stating that they were promised posts in the government in return for their vote.

The MP charged the government of levelling allegations at the opposition over protecting MP Bathiudeen.
