A discussion was held this morning between the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and several other parties pertaining to the formation of an all-party government and future political activities.
It was reported that members representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, members of the nine political parties that declared themselves independent of the government and the independent members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna were present during the discussion.
Parliamentarians Rauf Hakeem, Mano Ganesan, Duminda Dissanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Tissa Vitharana had joined the discussion chaired by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa.
Speaking to media after the discussion, SJB MP Tissa Attanayake claimed they hope to implement a programme agreed by all parties in the short-term once MP Premadasa’s nomination as the President is finalised in Parliament on the 18th of July.
The Parliamentarian said even though it is a difficult task, the country can still be brought back from the prevailing situation claimed the Opposition Leader and other members of the Opposition are ready to accept the task.
He said political agendas are not important at present adding the national programme to rebuild the country takes priority. The MP called on all political parties to unite in order to implement a common agenda for the next few months.
