The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has condemned the arrest of innocent civilians over the violence on the 9th of May, instead of government members and supporters who should be held responsible.

Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara speaking in Parliament today commented on two journalists being inconvenienced today.

MP Nanayakkara said the journalists were engaged in their routine duties and expressed their regret over the incident.

The MP added he believes this incident occurred due to the pressure that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarians were under.

MP Nanayakkara condemned such actions adding that behaviour of this nature led to Members of Parliament being attacked and their homes being set on fire.

The Parliamentarian called for such aggressive behaviour to be set aside.

MP Nanayakkara said innocent civilians are being arrested instead of apprehending those who attacked peaceful anti-government protesters at Galle Face as preliminary investigations.

The MP said politics cannot be based on thuggery adding that society is against such aggression.
