Another six persons have been arrested over the unrest and violence reported opposite Temple Trees and at Galle Face on the 9th of May.
The group has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department. Among the group are the son of the Mayor of the Moratuwa Municipal Council, three Municipal Council workers, a Colombo Municipal Council member and the President of the Sri Lanka Podujana Education Services Union, Wasantha Handapangoda.
The group will be produced before court today.
Meanwhile, another 81 persons have been apprehended over violent incidents reported across the country on the 9th of May.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said 45 among those arrested were released on bail.
Police said a total of 984 individuals are currently in remand custody after being arrested over the unrest and violence reported across the country on the 9th of May.
