Four persons have been arrested in Mawathagama, Kurunegala for hoarding and selling fuel without a permit.
They have sold fuel stocks at higher prices in Paragahadeniya, Maswewa, Weuda and Welikumbura.
Police have also seized 315 litres of diesel and 20 litres of petrol during the raid.
The suspects, aged between 36 and 59 years are residents of Ambakotte, Pilessa, Galaha and Mawathagama.
They have been ordered to appear before the Pilessa Magistrate’s Court on the 30th of June.
The Mawathagama Police is conducting further investigation.
Meanwhile, another individual has been arrested for the possession of 1,100 litres of diesel without a permit in Kotagala, Hatton.
Police said the raid was conducted based on a tip-off received through the 119 hotline.
The suspect is a 31-year-old resident of Hatton. He is scheduled to be produced before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court today.
The Dimbula Pathana Police is investigating the incident.
An individual has been arrested in Batticaloa for being in possession of 550 litres of diesel and 258 litres of kerosene oil without a permit.
Police said, the suspect is a 52-year-old resident of Mayilawattuwan.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Eravur Magistrate’s Court today.
