The Department of Meteorology says showers will continue in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the next few days.
The Met Department predicted fairly heavy showers above 75 mm at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers can also be expected in a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Hambantota districts after 2.00 p.m.
It added fairly strong gusty winds up to 40-50 kmph can be expected in the western slope of central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
