The Department of Meteorology predicts showers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today.

The Met Department said fairly heavy showers above 50mm can also be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

It added showers or thundershowers will occur at few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or night.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
