The Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today.

The Met Department said fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

It added showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
