The All Island Fisheries Federation says fishermen are severely burdened by the on-going quarantine curfew and owing to the prevailing coronavirus crisis.
Speaking to NewsRadio, National Organizer Rathna Gamage said the fishing community is severely burdened at present adding that fishermen are unable to go to sea.
He claimed even if they do, they are unable to fix a price for their catch or sell the fish.
Gamage claimed therefore all persons involved in the fishing industry are finding it difficult to survive. He therefore requested the government to reduce fuel prices promptly.
