Power outages were reported in several areas across the country since 4am today.
Power disruptions were experienced in Colombo, Moratuwa, Boralesgamuwa, Gampaha, Kandy, Kegalle and certain other areas.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka issuing a statement said all coal powered power plants are generating at full capacity and is connected to the national power grid.
However, the PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said even certain hydro powered plants, Luxapana, Canyon, Wimalasurendra and Polpitiya, are isolated and non operational.
He noted this occurred without instructions by the System Control Unit of the Ceylon Electricity Board due to the union action that was launched at midnight that has since been called off.
The PUCSL requested the public and electricity consumers to remain calm until the situation is normalised in due course
