Seven persons who were arrested for behaving in an unruly manner opposite the Police headquarters and damaging public property on the 9th of June, have been remanded till the 1st of July.
The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
The group including, National Organizer of ‘Youth for Change’ Lahiru Weerasekara, Venerable Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thera, Jagath Manuwarna, activist Rathindu Senaratne, Dhammika Munasinghe, Eranga Gunasekera, and Jehan Appuhamy surrendered to the Maradana Police earlier today.
Accordingly, they were produced in court this evening.
Two others named in the case filed over the violent incidents reported in Colombo Fort and Thalangama on the 9th and 10th of June, Galwewa Siridhamma Thera and the Convener of the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF), Wasantha Mudalige did not surrender to Police .
