Minister Udaya Gammanpila claims the handing over of the shares of the Yugadanavi power plant to an American firm is a threat to the country from all areas.
Minister Gammanpila said they will be cursed by future generations if they do not oppose such a move.
The Minister said they agreed to handover shares to Japan, India and South Korea and then they called for bids since an agreement could not be reached.
He said then a tender was secured by a joint venture by China and Pakistan.
Minister Udaya Gammanpila said China and Pakistan are countries that stood with Sri Lanka in international fora and remained friends of Sri Lanka.
He said instead of supporting close friends and allies, the government has handed over the stakes of the power plant to America which has always worked against Sri Lanka.
The Minister said this is a betrayal and a national security threat.
Minister Udaya Gammanpila claimed that they will fully oppose the move and are also willing to forfeit their ministerial portfolios to stand with the people.
