Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has requested members of the security forces to set aside their duty to protect corrupt politicians and to stand in solidarity with the people.
The MP made these comments while joining the protest in Colombo today.
MP Fonseka said firearms have been given to the security forces to protect people and not to protect corrupt politicians.
He noted those in power cannot remain hidden from the people and should resign if they cannot face the public.
Field Marshal Fonseka stated the country is gradually becoming unlivable adding the security forces too are facing the repercussions of decisions by corrupt administrations.
MP Fonseka requested security forces to side with the youth and other protesters for the betterment of the country.
He also said the struggle to remove all corrupt rulers should continue.
MP Fonseka said the youth desired leaders that understand the pulse of the people.
