The All Ceylon School Children Transport Association has requested the government to formulate a programme for van drivers to acquire diesel before the 6th of June, when schools are due to reopen for the new school term.

In a letter to Prime Minster Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Association called for solutions to be provided to their grievances, by considering school van transportation an essential service.

The Association in the letter also cited that they will be unable to continue transportation services when schools reopen, if necessary fuel is not provided.
