Principals of all government and government-approved private schools have been allowed to reach a decision on bringing in students only for term examinations and other essential purposes between the 4th and 8th of April.
The Ministry of Education in a statement said the decision was reached for the convenience of students and parents and based on a recommendation made by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka owing to daily power cuts.
Term examinations of schools in the North, South, North Western, and Eastern Provinces have already been completed.
However, the Ministry said exams of certain grades in schools in other provinces are yet to be conducted.
