The Department of Examinations says candidates due to sit for the upcoming Grade Five Scholarship Examination, who test positive for COVID-19, will be given an opportunity to sit for the exam at a special centre.
Commissioner of Examinations Amith Jayasundara said special exam centres have been established across the island for candidates who test positive for COVID-19.
He said the general process is for parents to drop their children in school, and for the school to take children to the exam centre.
Jayasundara noted however if a candidate tests positive for COVID-19, their parents must take them to the special exam centres.
He added parents can obtain information regarding the special centres by visiting the official website of the Department of Examinations.
The Commissioner of Examinations stated they must present a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR test report to the supervisor, in order to identify the candidate as a COVID-19 patient.
He however requested parents to refrain from taking children to special centres if they are suspected COVID-19 cases, and haven’t tested positive.
Jayasundara said a separate special programme is in place for candidates who are in quarantine or show symptoms of COVID-19, to sit for the exam.
