The All Island Samurdhi Bank Officers Association warns that mass trade union action will be carried out if steps are not taken to provide fuel for employees.
Chief Secretary of the Union BMB Basnayake speaking at a media briefing in Kandy today said they are severely affected by the fuel shortage, and requested authorities on multiple occasions to address their grievances.
However, he charged that no positive response was provided. Basnayake said the officers are engaged in humanitarian work, samurdhi efforts, including distribution of rice stocks from India.
He noted that if they don’t receive concessions wide scale union action will be launched together with other unions hampering all their duties.
