Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa claims steps will be taken to establish a strong anti-corruption institution through the Constitution to combat corruption.
MP Premadasa said leaders after coming into power form deals and engage in dealings with thieves and corrupt individuals, adding that an end must be brought to such incidents.
The Opposition Leader speaking at an event in Panama said although the slogan of nabbing the corrupt was popularised on election stages, the hopes of citizens were diminished when leaders failed to act on such promises.
MP Premadasa added an end to corruption will not be limited to draft bills and will be included in the Constitution claiming that all possible steps will be taken to curb corruption.
He stated queues were forming owing to the inability of the government and the theft of dollars.
MP Premadasa claimed the public will not have to stand in queues had the dollars been invested in the country, adding that the culture of theft and corruption must be eradicated.
