Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says the President, Prime Minister, and the government are a failure and should therefore step down from their posts.
MP Premadasa said his faction is ready to accept governance under a people’s mandate.
He questioned the government over the failure to address people’s issues and charged that the 22 million citizens have done no wrong to face such a turbulent situation.
MP Premadasa said the international community has not accepted the current government and will not therefore provide any funding.
He said the time is apt to send this government home as their inabilities have been proven.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has also decided to initiate a series of protests against the present President and government, beginning tomorrow.
Speaking to media, SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said the country has come to a complete standstill, and is facing shortages in fuel, electricity, food and LP gas.
He said the President has failed in his duties to continue the functioning of state as well as private sector.
MP Rajitha Senaratne said forming an all party government is the only solution to the present crisis.
The parliamentarian commented that people are suffering from the country’s problems, as well as animals in the Police force who are abusing their power.
He added that a day darker than the 9th of May will arise in future.
