Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has rejected a request by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to take up the post of Prime Minster and form an interim government.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Samagi Jana Balawegaya National Organiser MP Tissa Attanayake said they held talks with the SJB parliamentary group and agreed to support an interim government, if it acts in line with proposals submitted by the Sri Lanka Bar Association pertaining to addressing the people’s grievances and stabilising the economy.
However MP Attanayake said the Opposition Leader rejected the Presidents request to assume the post of Prime Minster and form an interim government.
MP Attanayake explained that the BASL proposed to bring back the 19th Amendment to the constitution and also to abolish the Executive Presidency.
He also revealed that various proposals have been presented to form an interim government to provide solutions to the people’s issues.
