Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa says it is difficult for Sri Lanka to obtain assistance from other nations, since we do not have a future plan.
The Opposition Leader pointed out that those who rejected aid from the Qatar charity, and imposed a ban on operations in their Colombo Office are now desperately trying to lift the ban on the same organisation in a bid to secure a steady supply of fuel.
Speaking to media at the Office of the Opposition Leader, MP Premadasa said he was invited by the Qatar government in his time as Minister of Housing, to attend the opening ceremony of the Qatari development fund office in Sri Lanka.
He recalled how the then, opposition attacked him for attending the event.
However, the MP pointed out that the same MPs are now taking the begging bowl to Qatar in hopes of securing those funds.
MP Premadasa said the opinions and certain restrictions on the Qatar government, changed overnight after the Minister started begging from them.
