The Ministry of Energy has announced that the National Fuel Pass initiative via the QR code system will not be rolled out as planned across the country today.
The Ministry said instead, the system will be implemented at a few selected filling stations.
The National Fuel Pass initiative will now continue as a pilot project at a few filling stations.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera previously confirmed that the National Fuel Pass QR code system was successfully tested at 20 locations island-wide for 4,708 vehicles.
The Energy Ministry said it will take a few more days to roll out the system across the country.
The Ministry said it has identified certain shortcomings and once those are debugged, the system will be rolled out under several phases.
At least 3.5 million individuals have registered for the National Fuel Pass thus far.
