Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has been further remanded till the 5th of October in relation to investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage this afternoon.

MP Bathiudeen was arrested on the 24th of April by the Criminal Investigation Department over investigations into the bombings.

He was arrested under provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The MP is charged with ties to the owner of the copper factory in Wellampitiya, who was one of the suicide bombers in the Easter attacks.

MP Bathiudeen had previously filed a bail application before Court.

The Court today ordered the CID to make necessary consultations and to ensure the Attorney General is represented in Court at the next hearing.
