Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has been further remanded, in relation to investigations pertaining to the 2019 Easter attacks.
The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage this morning.
The MP was further remanded till the 1st of September.
MP Bathiudeen was arrested on the 24th of April by the Criminal Investigation Department over investigations into the bombings.
He was arrested under provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The MP is charged with ties to the owner of the copper factory in Wellampitiya, who was one of the suicide bombers in the Easter attacks.
MP Bathiudeen’s attorney sought Court’s permission today to make a statement. Court accordingly granted a hearing on the 26th of August.
