Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has requested the government to issue a gazette notification amending the cost of a Rapid Antigen Test to Rs.600 and a PCR Test to Rs.2,000.
MP Premadasa said a gazette notification was issued setting a maximum price of Rs.6,500 for a PCR Test and Rs.2,000 for a Rapid Antigen Test in order to support a mafia currently prevalent in the market.
Issuing a statement, the Opposition Leader said the database of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority being erased is not a coincidence.
He said the conspiracy of the existing drug mafia, institutional monopoly and the incident at the National Medicines Regulatory Authority cannot be disregarded.
MP Premadasa said therefore, an impartial inquiry must be conducted.
