Reverend Father Cyril Gamini has refused a request by the Criminal Investigation Department to appear before the CID for a third consecutive day today to record a statement.
Rev. Fr. Gamini was present at the CID for eight hours yesterday and seven hours the previous day.
The CID summoned Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini over a complaint lodged by the Head of the State Intelligence Service Major General Suresh Salley over claims he made in relation to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks during a recent online forum.
Speaking to media upon leaving the CID yesterday, Rev. Fr. Gamini said his attorney refused the request by the CID.
He said former Attorney General Dappula de Livera made a serious claim that there was a conspiracy behind the Easter Sunday attacks adding however the former Attorney General has not been summoned before the CID or the Police to record a statement.
Rev. Fr. Gamini said many officials including former President Maithripala Sirisena had given clear recommendations to the Attorney General.
The Reverend said they condemn the current course of action.
