Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Retired General Kamal Gunaratne says several retired Army officers holding posts in the government is not militarisation.
Responding to a question raised on whether the country is moving towards a military rule, during a media briefing at the President’s Media Division, General Kamal Gunaratne questioned how it is wrong for a retired military officer to use his years of knowledge and experience to serve the country and the people.
He stressed national security has been ensured at present, while there is no room for separatism.
General Gunaratne added there is no reason for the public to have any undue fear.
It was also revealed that the Sri Lanka Navy seized over Rs.35 billion worth of narcotics over the last two years alone.
