The report by the committee appointed to investigate incidents of political revenge and provide relief to state and semi-government officials who faced legal battles and were acquitted during the term of the former good governance government has handed over its report to the Prime Minister.
The Office of the Prime Minister said Chairman of the committee Rt. Chief Justice Asoka de Silva handed over the report to Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees this afternoon.
The Prime Minister issued directives at the meeting to officials to make necessary arrangements to submit the committee report to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The committee comprises Rt. Chief Justice Asoka de Silva, President’s Counsel VK Choksi, Accountant KS Chandrapala de Silva and Rt. Accountant HD Weerasiri.
The committee was appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers on the 10th of September 2021 following a Cabinet decision dated 30th of July 2021 on a proposal tabled by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
