The committee appointed by the President to look into the recent domestic gas cylinder fires and explosions has concluded recording statements.

Chairman of the committee, Professor at the University of Moratuwa, Shantha Walpola speaking to NewsRadio said the final report is being compiled.

He added the final report will most likely be completed by Wednesday. Prof. Shantha Walpola said thereafter it will be submitted to the President, when they receive a date and time to meet the Head of State.

He noted statements were recorded from nearly 40 factions over the past few days.

The group includes gas companies, the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, the Government Analyst’s Department and occupants of houses at which gas leak explosions were reported.
