Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, former President Maithripala Sirisena says the government cannot solve all incidents by removing one State Minister.
Speaking to media in Matale on the President’s decision to remove Susil Premajayantha from his post as State Minister, former President Sirisena said if the government takes necessary steps to resolve issues faced by the public, internal divisions can be prevented.
The former President said MP Premajayantha made a comment to media during a weekly visit at a Sunday-fair, adding he was removed from his portfolio before a 24-hour period.
Furthermore, the former Head of State said he is aware of the reason as to why State Minister Nimal Lanza who criticized the government more than Susil Premajayantha, has not been removed from post thus far.
He said State Minister Lanza who made scathing comments against the government last week will not be removed from his portfolio due to his knowledge.
On a separate note, the former President said the farming community and the agriculture industry have been battered like never before, even more than during the British Colonial period.
Former President Sirisena said there hasn’t been any formal investigation into gas leak explosions thus far adding neither the Litro Gas Chairman nor the Board of Directors has been asked to resign.
